If you are an independent contractor, it may be worth placing a classified advertisement on Craigslist offering your services. Since more companies are using outsourcing, both small businesses and large corporations may take advantage of these advertisements. You can also use Craigslist to search for advertisements for those seeking contract employees.

When you login to Craigslist, there is a section that is specifically for services offered. You will find a number of different categories there, and they also have a small business category. If you cannot find a complementary category the small business category is recommended.

To search for opportunities for independent contractors, search through the job feature and browse by checking the contract box. You will have to make sure that you carefully research all results before making a decision.

If you have a small business, and you wish to reach a large audience you may also be able to use Craigslist to advertise your business. You can place an advertisement in the appropriate category which could help other businesses find you. One of the reasons this is so effective is that because studies have shown that Craigslist can receive upwards of 4 billion page views monthly. Because of this, there is a large potential audience.

The discussion forums in the Craigslist community are also another source of potential promotion opportunities. You must use caution to ensure that your postings are not viewed as spam. If you can use the postings to inform the reader, they will not likely be considered spam. Just use caution, when promoting your business this way. The last thing you need to do is to jeopardize your goodwill or your reputation by being accused of spamming on Craigslist.
