Giving up on RedGage and here is why

RedGage has promoted themselves as a content site where you can make additional money off content you place in other websites. Supposedly the theory is “you make money from what you are already doing.” Well, in theory this is true. But, there are some issues with this.

A) If you don’t upload photographs you’ll never be a ‘featured’ user – this appears to be where the real money is. The link uploads are so stale they are not even funny – for instance there is at least one “featured” link that has been on the board since I joined more than three months ago – it’s earned a whopping 2.42 with over 400 page views.  Why bother?

B) The site isn’t particularly user friendly – I know that every website goes through some growing pains but enough is enough. 3 months into it there is no way to upload content properly, the submission windows don’t work the way they are supposed to and there always seems to be one problem or another on the site.  Who has time to fight with a site when there are so many other options?

C) Page views are awful - RedGage is careful to keep their payment levels very quiet. I have personally uploaded 287 items in 3 months and the earnings are an astounding $4.31 which calculated out means that my earnings are $0.015017 per item, or 0.000618986 if you believe that I have had almost 7,000 views.

The “RedGage” Card

Don’t look to RedGage if you have a problem with their payment through your RedGage card, they’ll simply tell you to contact the issuing company.  And, if you go  to their website you’ll find some of the crazy fees they are charging.   I was fortunate enough to win a contest entry a month and a half or so ago, and while the card came to me immediately I was shocked by the fees that they can charge.  Make sure you know what they are before you sign up for RedGage.

With that said, my next goal will be to remove all of my content from RedGage. It’s clear that in spite of numerous page hits that the only one making any money from my efforts is them. I am averaging four to five times daily on other sites than I have made in three months at RedGage. Nice try, bad deal.

I have to agree, sadly. I’ve even been a featured user, and I have dozens of photographs on there – some of far better quality than the ones that get featured! I’ve gotten a few featured photographs, but even so, I’ve only earned $11 with over 4,000 pages views – it’d be much less if I hadn’t gotten those bonuses. Plus I must agree that the site is awfully managed technologically speaking.

It was a nice idea, and I went in knowing the payment policies full well, but thought it’d be nice to earn some extra cash on my photos. Unfortunately I’m not impressed and think I will just go back to trying to sell prints even though it’s less successful.

Thanks for your honesty, Doreen – I’m not going to follow through with my aborted attempt to join yesterday.
