Big Time Morons

Are they all morons?

People must think that blog owners are stupid – or even worse.  In less than 24 hours I had 147 brand new blog comments! Oh MY! I was excited – after all, that could represent a banner day of visitors 147 wow that is way cool.  I am so excited I can barely wait to have a few minutes to review them.  Lo and behold, am I sorry I made the attempt to make time to review them.  SIX yes count them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.  Out of 147 and a few of these were questionable.  The other 141 messages were a combination of keywords followed by colons, mrfakename asking me for permission to copy my freelancing posts to his yoga site, and the granddaddy of them all, the “wordpress plugin guaranteed to get me backlinks”.  Yea, maybe – but are you going to trust a site that calls itself blacklinks, or offers you this WordPress plugin for $497.

Then of course let us not overlook those who work so hard to make sure that they get a valid backlink on your site. LouisVittonHandbags.com sent me 19 comments from 12 users.  Congratulations, you were the spam king this day. I am not here to provide you with cheap links full of bogus comments that have absolutely no relevance to anything that I have on my blog. Absolutely nothing.

I do not care to see video recording of Brittney Spears, I don’t care about your “little blue pills” and there are at least twelve other similar products that I do not care to experiment with including your guaranteed weight loss plan. If I am interested in losing weight, I’ll do it the old fashioned way, I’ll increase my exercise and I’ll cut down my calorie intake. Fancy that.

So, in closing let me say thank you for all of the kind comments. I have never seen so many colons in one spot (this type :). I have now made it so that you have to register in order to leave a comment on this blog which is unfortunate because I do not believe that most people want to actually do that to simply comment (I know I don’t). So the next time you see a blog with no comments, you’ll know why — thank the spammers.

Doreen, you are trying to reason with either automated software that posts comments or automated people who are paid 1$ to post a link in 1000 blogs.

I think if you talk to the cat the cat may be more receptive than them.

I would suggest you install Akismet, it would basically prevent at least 80% of them to even make it to your list, by using global spam lists (reports from the 999 blogs that were visited before yours). Fight software with… more software!
