Writing Articles for Money

Writer Access is a marketplace for US Based writers. They pay on a monthly basis through PayPal.  Writers must sign up, include an original writing sample and then they gain access to a writers dashboard. Writer Access does not work like Helium, BrightHub or Internet Brands, programs we discussed in our last set of posts.  Writer Access “grades” a writer from level 1 to level 5.  If you land in level 1 you can just forget about using Writer Access as a source of income, it’s simply not going to happen.  Level 5 is not “awarded” to new writers, it is earned over time.

How Payments are Calculated

Clients who are seeking articles on specific topics put information on Writer Access and provide word counts and keywords. You can select your topics based on your interest in writing to them.  The payment minimums for posted articles is set by Writer Access as follows:

Level 2 earns 0.91 cents per word
Level 3 earns 2.03 cents per word
Level 4 earns 3.57 cents per word
Level 5 earns 4.76 cents per word

Payments are made on a monthly basis to any writer with a ten (10) dollar balance in their account. The payments are made via PayPal during the first week of the month.

Article Acceptance

Writer Access has a rather unique system for accepting articles. As the author, you maintain full copyrights to the work until the client accepts the work. They have seventy two (72) hours to accept it.  Writer Access does require those who submit assignments to deposit funds to pay for that assignment when they post it.  If for some reason a client does not accept the work within 72 hours, Writer Access automatically approves it.

Important Information

When you accept an assignment there are a few things you need to be aware of. These include:

Writing Level - Even if you are rated at a Level 4 if the assignment is a Level 2 you will be paid at a Level 2 rate. The guaranteed rates are based entirely on the client input level;

Acceptance - Clients do not have to accept your article as is. They do have the right to request revisions.  Writer Access does have a mechanism in place to prevent abuse;

Deadlines – Once you accept an assignment you must meet the deadline. This can be as short as four (4) hours so select carefully. The good news is if you find you cannot meet the deadline you will not be penalized if you return the assignment. However, if you allow the time to expire this can hurt your rating over time.

Plagiarism – All work is checked for plagiarism and if you submit plagiarized work, you will be downgraded to Level 1 and not be allowed to write for Writer Access.

Summary

With all of this said it is important that I mention that I have submitted only one article to Writer Access as of the date of this writing (9/26).  It was accepted within a few hours of my writing it.  For freelance writers who wish to work under tight deadlines and are willing to risk winding up with articles that they can use (if rejected) this site is worth it.  The short deadline time also means that you can use this site for a way to “fill in” those days when you might not have anything else to do! I do recommend this site for those who are seeking additional ways to make money freelance writing.

The last (and final) excerpt in this section will be “Seed” an AOL company.
