Product Reviews: Forever Lazy

For the most part I have avoided product reviews for a number of reasons. However, I’m starting to lean towards sharing my opinions more and more so I figured a few product reviews were the place to start. I’m going to start off with  the “Forever Lazy” garment because frankly, it’s not as good as it’s cracked up to be.

Pros:

The price – the price is not too bad on this since you can get two of them for a low price and they come with socks.  The socks may however be the best part of the item, and chances are you can buy similar ones for a lot less money.  Overall the two sleepers and two pairs of socks were $29.95 plus shipping of $7.95 plus an additional $7.95 shipping for the “free” set.  I find the shipping charges excessive but we’ll forgive that since nearly all sites are “overpriced” when it comes to shipping.

Shipping – The shipping on these were pretty quick. In spite of the fact that the site tells you that it will take four to six weeks I think mine were in less than two so that was a bonus.  The packaging was fine, nothing to write home about but adeqate.

Cons

Herein lies the problem: while the price and shipping were both fair in my opinion, the garments fail to live up to the hype that I found. Not only was the product hyped on television but it’s also hyped up on their website as well as on YouTube. So let’s start off with some of the failures of this product.

A) The website – the site is a nightmare to place an order. When you initially go to the site it appears clean, simple and attractive. However, once you place your order you may not be so delighted with the site.  The order form is a popup and before you can “continue” you have to put your credit card information into the site. In addition, the order form shows a “chart” of sizes (which I’ll talk about later).  Don’t make the mistake of placing “2″ in your order though or you’ll discover you’re going to pay for 4 (2 and 2 free).  1 means 2 (don’t ask).

B) The size chart – the size chart is very broad in “selecting sizes”. Only in the world of Forever Lazy can a person who weighs 110 pounds who is 5’8″ tall wear the same size garment as someone who weighs 210 pounds and is 5’8″.  Enough said.

C) The garment – The garment itself is poorly constructed, and frankly it’s downright ugly.  Mine arrived with numerous strings hanging off the sleeves and legs (great quality control) and the first thing I thought was how attractive the color was. And, the color is attractive, it’s the black zippers that make it look like crap. In addition, the “flaps” they show for the seat – the cover which is supposed to hide the zipper doesn’t lay down flat (poor design?).  The other thing is that the fleece is thin. I have fleece pants that I paid $5 for at CVS that are far more substantive.

D) Wear and tear – I admit to wearing this several times. Since I had two I used one for sleeping and I kept the spare for those afternoons/evenings when it got a tad cool and put the other on over my clothes. In total, each garment has been washed about five times. Since then I have noticed (a) it sheds every time I wash it (b) the zipper openings in the rear now have holes in the side and (c) the fleece is wearing off in a few spots leaving a rough feeling fabric behind it.

Overall, I rate the Forever Lazy a bad deal.  Perhaps if you’re willing to spend the extra $10 for the “deluxe” version that you’ll be happier with it, but frankly, even for the money spent, the best part of this deal (as I said earlier) was the socks.
