Nearly anyone who writes online is looking for additional ways to make money. Writers know that time is money and that every minute they have to waste finding a new client, exploring new writing sites or any other task that does not involve writing means they are losing out on receiving payment for that time. However, there are some things that can help fill in time if writers would simply take the time to explore them. Many writers turn down assignments because they do not pay enough, or because they feel they are beneath them. In reality, this isn’t very smart!
Working on Textbroker
Many writers complain about the low rates that are associated with tasks on Textbroker. However, writers who can write quickly can earn between $15 and $30 per hour depending on (a) subject matter and (b) their ranking on Textbroker. While most assignments pay less than $10 each, if you explore them carefully, many of them are less than 500 words and can be done quickly and without a lot of research.
There are some things to keep in mind:
The system isn’t necessarily user friendly – First, you can only claim one title from the “open” pool at a time. The good news is that you can also claim one “team” order if you are accepted to any teams. This allows writers to have two open titles at the same time. When you open an article up to read the instructions, if you have it open for one minute, then you have to tell the system that you don’t wish to write the article, you can’t just go back to the dashboard. To complicate matters further, once you cancel it, you go back to the total list, not to the category you selected.
Team orders are the best – Do yourself a favor and get on a team or more than one team if you are able to. While the clients do not put up orders daily, you not only get an opportunity to claim a second title, you also get the benefit of working on “targeted” assignments without having to compete with a larger pool of writers. My current experience is that the clients tend to approve these assignments quickly as well.
Remember the weekly pay – One of the best things about Textbroker in my opinion is the weekly pay. This can be very helpful if you have something coming up and need a few extra dollars! Assignments are generally paid for within three days of being submitted meaning that you can write as much as you want and withdraw funds on Thursday night. Funds must be requested by 11:59 PM PST on Thursday and you’ll get paid Friday morning.
While you are probably not going to be able to make $1,000 a week on Textbroker, there isn’t any reason you can’t easily make $100 a week or so if you focus. In fact, if you are careful about what you claim, you can easily earn this in a matter of four or five hours. There is no simple solution to making thousands of dollars a month as a freelance writer, but frankly, if you’re spending four or five hours a week (one hour a day!) doing little or nothing, isn’t $100 better than nothing?
