Fun and Games with Domains

I have had this domain for a while, in fact, this Creation Date: 30-jan-2009, is for Freelancing and More.com and this Domain Registration Date: Tue Aug 25 14:47:34 GMT 2009 is for the .biz registration of the same site.  The no scam work at home site is far newer, Domain Registration Date: Sun Sep 04 01:14:30 GMT 2011.

Now during all of this time, I have managed to eek out about $200 dollars in total advertising revenue earnings across ALL of these sites including from Google AdSense, InfoLinks and Panther ads. So, with that said, you can imagine my total shock when I discovered the supposed “valuation” of my current website(s). Keep in mind, all three of these domains point RIGHT HERE!  So take a look at what I found.

supposed value

There is of course no way the values that are showing here are anywhere NEAR resembling reality. In fact, this is probably more like it (though still questionable):

probably closer 2

Why am I writing this? It’s pretty simple. The first example the site explains that the sites are valued based on keywords yet shows no ranking for any keywords (how depressing!) and compares the value (supposedly) to other sites that rank for comparable keywords (but since there are none….).

This is a word of warning for everyone: Don’t get conned into thinking your website is worth a lot more than it is. Also, whatever you do, do not buy a website based on these bogus reviews of their value. The domains are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. When your overall income is <$200 a month there is no way that your website is worth thousands and thousands of dollars. Don’t get conned!
