Many of you may recall that back in November of 2012, I lost my blog for an indeterminate period of time. At that time, I wrote the post “Con Artists Prefer Silence“. My site was hacked into and completely disrupted for several days while I tried to figure out what was going on. Fortunately for me, I had much of my data backed up. Unfortunately, many of my screen shots, images and even some nifty keywords were lost in the shuffle. I’m still working on cleaning up some of these posts which now look like a kid posted them because things that were used for backup seemingly no longer exist. Now at the time, I wrote extensively about what I felt was unfair treatment by Google which you can read under “Screwed by Google“. However, after my recent success with Twitter I decided it was a good time to launch a new battle and this time, I was going to take on Google. After all, I did NOTHING wrong so I still feel that this was unfair and unprovoked. So I wrote this letter: Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA May 13, 2013 To Whom It [...]

Today, I decided to have some fun. Theresa Andrews has been a target ever since I put up the Partner with Paul review several months ago. In fact, this one search term has generated almost 4500 hits on that blog post! However, there were a couple of names that kept surfacing in my Email and when doing “work at home” searches, namely Kelley (or Kelly) Richards and Melissa Johnson. I had to go and look for these names and see what happened. What did happen turned out to be pretty amusing. Now, you remember my writing about Work at Home University a week or so back and how that turned out. Well remember this text? I decided to use the text of that and run it through Copyscape and when I did, I got almost 100 hits and decided to investigate some of them. Interestingly enough, these all go to different companies but frankly, a scam by any name is still a scam. So let’s take a look at what I found. Kelley Richards is a busy lady not only does she move a lot, she’s involved in more programs than you can imagine. Of course, not one of them [...]

One bright note in the ongoing financial recession in the United States is the opportunity to earn money online. Since more companies are cutting back on full-time staff members to save money, they are turning more and more to outsourcing work that used to be done in house. Before you decide that you are going to earn money working from home however, it is important that you understand that there is no method of “getting rich quick”. Work at home opportunities are numerous, provided that you know where to look and you can avoid getting scammed. For most people, the best thing they can do is to take an honest inventory of their existing skills to determine if you have a skill set that is easily transferable to the online market. Some of the best skills include: Ability to write – there are sites that pay upfront monies for writing online. While some sites (like HubPages) pay on a percentage of page views, others do pay for work on demand; WordPress Experts – whether you can create plugins for WordPress or you are good at dealing with some of the back end work such as posting, adding images, tagging or [...]

In my ongoing determination to keep up with goals I set, based on the original January goals I am not doing so hot but remember, I did change these goals in early April. So, with that said, let’s see how well April worked out. In fairness, I should disclose I did not work the last week of April (or the first week of May) regularly (which is why this post is going up today nearly 1/3 of the way through May) so that had an impact on my productivity clearly! But let’s see how things stacked up! Blogs – April was a bad month for blogging for some reason. I seemed to have a major spike in traffic but the fact remains I did not post that many new posts during the month. I also dropped the ball on the portfolio so I really need to do a lot better during May (though I’m already way behind!). Overall, this was a bad month for posting but frankly, it was one of the most lucrative in terms of income for the blogs so that’s something! Writing – My Writer Access goals were 2-3 per week during the month of April. I [...]

I am not known as someone who will sit back and take things lightly — in fact when I feel that someone is being treated unfairly I’ll jump right in and defend them. Sometimes, that does not always translate well into what I will do to fight for myself, but I decided to wage war against Twitter a few weeks back. Some of you will remember the post I wrote about Twitter Customer Service and how poorly they responded to my repeated emails regarding my account. I lost my password sometime between changing computers. Well, I promised I was going to send a letter via snail mail in that post and I did that on March 29th along with a copy of my passport and my birth certificate. Now let me be clear about something: I spent a lot of time nurturing folks on Twitter in spite of the fact that a lot of my activity is automated. I built up a following and I didn’t want to lose that following by setting up a new account. Plus, I didn’t want to put my user name @doreenmartel at risk, since it is in fact my real name. After nearly [...]
